the coastal cityJoao Pessoa.The students have won the last threeRoboCup competitions。

Watching robots playfootbal l is simi larto watching chi ldren playthe game.The kicks are not good  there's a lotof fal l ing down and peopleare thereto guide and support theteam members. JianQiao Li is one of the leaders of the Universityof Pennsylvaniateam。

He says one goal he has for the robot team is to make surethemachinescan find the goal and the bal l .Healso wants the robots tobe ableto knowwherethey are onthe playing field.And he wantsthe team to be ableto bettercontrol thewalking and kicking abi l itiesof the robots。

Qin He isanother leaderof the robot team. Shesays the abi l itiesof the robots increase everyyear.Ms.He says the USteam ismeeting its goals。

The robots knowthe differences between the colors green andred and theycandecidewheretogoand where the bal l isontheplaying field.She says if there are three robot players on the field atthe sametime theywi l l communicate witheachotherto decidethe different responsibi l ities foreach robot。

MrAkatsuka says RoboCup is an exciting technologycompetition。

"Each team develops their own software;basical ly it's acompetition of who has the bestsoftware  who has the bestdecision-making at a given point.. . it's real lyexciting  " says

Akatsu ka。

TheeventbeginsJuly19th andendsJuly25th.Some RoboCupparticipants hope to develop a team of robots that can play againsthumansby2050。
