Eventhesemiconductorlaser'sdevelopmenttimetablewasmovedforwardandbenefitedfromthesuccessandinspirationoftherubylaser.
Thehistoricalwriters,whodescribethecreationofthelaserasaracebeing"wonbyahair"havebeenconfusedbytheproliferationofvariouskindsoflasersthatquicklyfollowedtheruby.
Theyseemtobeoblivioustotheexplosivestimulusinresearchandfundinglevelsthatimmediatelyflowedasaresultofthesurprisingrubysuccessstory.
