AnysitesthatconnecttothesamePEroutermustforwardintersitetrafficusingthehubsite.
Thisensuresthattheroutingdoneatthespokesitemovesfromtheaccess-sideinterfacetothenetwork-sideinterfaceorfromthenetwork-sideinterfacetotheaccess-sideinterface,butneverfromtheaccess-sideinterfacetotheaccess-sideinterface.
ThisfeaturepreventssituationswherethePErouterlocallyswitchesthespokeswithoutpassingthetrafficthroughthehubsite.
Thispreventssubscribersfromdirectlyconnectingtoeachother.
ThisfeatureeasesconfigurationbyremovingtherequirementofoneVRFperspoke.
Inpriorreleases,whenspokesconnectedtothesamePErouter,eachspokewasconfiguredinaseparateVRFtoensurethatthetrafficbetweenthespokestraversedthecentrallinkbetweenthewholesaleserviceproviderandtheISP.
However,thissolutionwasnotscalable.
WhenmanyspokesconnectedtothesamePErouter,configurationofVRFsforeachspokebecamequitecomplexandgreatlyincreasedmemoryusage.
Thiswasespeciallytrueinlarge-scaleenvironmentsthatsupportedhigh-densityremoteaccesstoLayer3VPNs.

ItalsocontainstheroutesimportedfromthehubPErouter.
TherouterredistributesroutesfromthedownstreamVRFintoMultiprotocolBorderGatewayProtocol(MP-BGP).
