Idonotwantmytaxdollarsbeingusedforgrosslyunethicalresearchinvolvingthecreationandmanipulationofpart-human,part-animalbeingswhoseveryexistenceblursthelinebetweenhumansandnon-humananimals.
Thisproposedresearchraisesalltheethicalproblemsofhumanembryonicstemcellresearchingeneralandseriousadditionalproblemsrelatedtothecreationofhuman-animalbeingswithpartlyorsubstantiallyhumanbrainsand/orhumangametesTalsoobjectstronglytotheNIH'sapparentlackofconsiderationfortheethicalissuesimplicatedbythisresearch.
Indeed,theNlHpledgedto"undertakeadeliberativeprocesstoevaluatethestateofthescienceinthisarea,theethicalissuesthatshouldbeconsidered,andtherelevantanimalwelfareconcernsassociatedwiththesetypesofstudies"whenthemoratoriumwasputinplacein2015.
Yet,todatethereisnoevidenceofanydiscussionoftheethicalissuesinvolvedincreatingpartlyhumananimals.
Istronglyurgeyoutomaintainthecurrentmoratoriumonfundingresearchinvolvingthecreationandmanipulationofhuman-animalchimeras.
