TheyoungergenerationartistscorrespondtothechallengesofglobalizationbycreatingartworksthataimtoavoidthedichotomybetweenJapaneseandEuro-Americanculturesandfurthermoretonegotiatetheevaluationprocesses.
Theyalsoexplorenewartformspresentintheurbanspacetoenhancetheinteractionofartandeverydaylife.
TheexaminationofthecontemporaryartsceneinTokyowillbestartedfromanon-institutionalperspective.
Sincetheendofthe1980stheformsofcontemporarygraffitiandstreetarthavegraduallyemergedintheurbanspaceofTokyo.
AlthoughtheoriginalinspirationderivedfromthestylesofNewYorkgraffiti,thelocalcreatorshaveactivelydevelopedindigenousformsofexpressionandcomposedavigorous,versatileurbanartscene.
In2010,theStudioRarekwai(SRK),formedbyRyoSanadajaSuridhHassanmadethefirstdocumentaryfilm,RackGaki,focusingonJapanesegraffiti.
Throughversatilematerials,thefilmillustrateshowgraffitiwritersandartistsperceiveTokyo.
Thesecondsetofthespring,startingfromApril1,willbringanupdatedperceptionofartinurbanspacetoday.
AfilmcreatedbyFreeArtFridayTokyoatthebeginningof2014willintroducetheactivitiesofthisrecentlocalbranchoftheinternationalartmovementestablishedinearly2013.
