[Abstract]With China’ s influence in the world we should not ignore theimportance of teaching Chinese culture in Language teaching. In this thesis theauthor investigated some teachers in a university to explore the teacher’ s currentEnglish-Chinese culture input awareness in college English teaching then give somesuggestions based on some theories and hope that college teachers will make Englishclass more adaptive to cultivate student’ s Intercultural Communication Competence

1.Purpose ofthe Research

The intercultural communication has become a very hot topic in recent years.Alot of teachers and scholars have already recognized this point.The new syllabus alsoemphasizes the cultivation of students’ cultural awareness and ability.Howeverafter the study of the research in recent years we can find that what the researcheshas been done and the results of their research mainly focus on the field of the inputof English culture. The teaching of Chinese culture has not been paid so muchattention. “At present the ignore of foreign language cultural input and nationallanguage culture has reached a extent that we have to pay much attention”①. In the1920s literary critics b egan to critic the invasion o f western literary thoughts and theloss of literary thoughts in ancient China.Hence “Chinese literature aphasia”comesinto being. Since there are not so many researches on the role of teacher inIntercultural Communication however teachers as a very essential part in thein-cooperation of culture should not be ignored.On the other hand with the rapiddevelopment of globalization the importance of Chinese culture is increasinglymore obvious.Thus it is quite necessary to pay attention to the teaching of Chineseculture in English class. In this thesis the author through the investigation of someteachers in order to find the college English teacher’ s awareness of English Chineseculture input and then give some suggestions hoping that it can arise the relatededucators attention.
