Thetwomainexperiments(ATLASandCMS)announcedtheobservationofanewparticlethatis"consistentwiththeHiggsboson",withamassofaround125GeV/c2.
AttemptswillbeInstallationoftheworld'slargestsilicontrackingdetectorintheCMSexperiment.
(MichaelHoch,CERN)madeoverthecomingmonthstoconfirmthattheparticlede-tectedisinfacttheelusiveboson.
Asmentionedinapreviousnewsletter,EcosimProwasusedbyCERNtomodelandtosimulatethecryogenicsystemoftheentirecoolingloopoftheLHC,whichservedtovalidatethesystemandtooptimizethecontrollogic,andisbeingusedtodayforsimulationandtrainingoftheLHCplantoperators.
CERNandEAarebuildingacommercialcyrogeniclibraryna-medCRYOLIBwhichisexpectedtobereadyattheendofJulyforuseatothersimilarinstallations.
