TheactualnumberoflicensesconsumedwillbedoneatVCGbindingoperationandisalsodependentontheQAMreplicationrequirements.

EachVirtualCarrierGroup(VCG)isassociatedwithoneormoreIPaddressesthatrepresentVEIs.
ForGQIprotocol,VEImustbeconfiguredundertheLED,sinceGQIexpectsVEItobeabletoreachanyVirtualQAMcarrierlistedinthesameLED.
Again,forGQIprotocol,thereisalimitoffiveVEIsperLED.
Forthetablebasedprotocol,VEImaybeconfiguredundertheLEDorunderaVCG.
IftheVEIisconfiguredunderaVCG,itcanonlyreachthevirtualQAMcarriersassociatedwiththatparticularVCG.
DuringtheVCGbindingoperation,eachVEIIPaddresswillbeboundtoasingleVideoIPinterface.
YoucanisolatethevideotrafficfromothernetworktrafficusingMPLS(MultiprotocolLabelSwitching)andVRF(VirtualRoutingandForwarding),byconfiguringtheVRFnameparameterinvideo-edge-inputcommand.
DonotusethesameVEIIPaddressinmultipleVRFs,asHeadEndvideosessionmanagementserversarenotMPLSorVRFaware.
NoteHowtoConfigureVirtualCarrierGroupandVirtualEdgeInputConfiguringVirtualCarrierGroupBeforeyoubeginSinceeachVEIneedstobeconfiguredwitharoutableIPaddressfromwithinthecustomer'snetwork,choosetheIPaddressestousepriortoconfiguringtheVEIs.
ErrormessagesforproblemswiththeVCGconfigurationwillbecomeevidentduringthebindoperation.
Errorsincludeoverlappingrf-channels.
Invirtual-edge-input-ipcommandlineconfiguration,vrfisanoptionalparameterandcanbeusedforMPLSroutingortomakeVEIprivatefromotherpartsofthenetwork.
